Re-mastered from original tapes, using state-of-the-art equipment. CD 1 features works of Scott Joplin including the ever popular THE ENTERTAINER and EASY WINNERS rags. On the strength of this album, the Canadian Brass became an honored and in-demand member of the The Ragtime Society. CD 2 features the progressive arrangements and styling's of pianist Don Gillis in the ground-breaking album Unexplored Territory. The Canadian Brass is joined by a seven instruments to form this unique "lab" ensemble, which includes noted guitarist Liona Boyd. Unexplored Territory includes the first appearance of the Canadian Brass signature tune JUST A CLOSER WALK WITH THEE and also features studio tricks that employs "detuning" to give the effect of an old 78 rpm recordings and multi-track layering, all new innovations when this album was first produced. Another must-hear moment is Gillis' send up of Handel's Fireworks Music that includes jazz harpsichord--a crossover fans dream!
